It signals the potential end of an uptrend. No uptrend, no pattern.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">An uptrend is confirmed if at least one of these conditions is met:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Higher highs and higher lows.<\/strong> The market is making progress to the upside.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Price above a directional moving average.<\/strong> The trend filter confirms bullish bias.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Bullish extension exceeds the prior average range.<\/strong> Momentum is expanding to the upside.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">If none of these conditions is satisfied, the pattern is not valid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Morphology<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The pattern consists of three candles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong> Candle 1:<\/strong> Bullish body. Body size larger than the average of recent candles. This is the trend in motion: strong, confident, directional.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong> Candle 2 (the Star):<\/strong> Small body. Positioned above the close of Candle 1. A gap is preferable but not required. The color is irrelevant. This is indecision: the market hesitates at the highs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong> Candle 3:<\/strong> Bearish body. Closes inside the body of Candle 1, below its 50% mark. This is the reversal attempt: sellers push back with conviction.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">If any of these conditions is not met, the pattern is not valid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>The Dynamics<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Candle 1 shows dominant bullish pressure. The trend is strong.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Candle 2 shows loss of momentum. Bulls push higher but fail to extend. The body shrinks. Energy fades at the top.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Candle 3 shows sellers stepping in. The bearish body closes deep into Candle 1\u2014a visual confirmation that buyers have lost control.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The high of Candle 2 identifies resistance. This level defines the risk.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Pattern Status<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">At the close of Candle 3, the pattern is classified as:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Configuration present.<\/strong> The structure is complete.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Signal NOT active.<\/strong> The trigger has not been hit.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The pattern alone is not a trading signal. It is information that requires confirmation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Confirmation<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The Evening Star signal activates only on the break of the low of Candle 3.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Before the break, the price movement is to be considered a correction, not a reversal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Additional evidence that strengthens the signal: the Star forms at a previous resistance, at a significant moving average, or at another relevant technical level.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Failure<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The pattern fails if any of the following occurs:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Candle 3 does not close below the 50% mark of Candle 1.<\/li>\r\n<li>The low of Candle 3 is not broken.<\/li>\r\n<li>Price breaks above the high of Candle 2.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The pattern fails if price breaks above resistance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div id=\"attachment_758\" style=\"width: 1634px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/round-robin.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Evening-Star-Trading.png\" data-lbwps-width=\"1624\" data-lbwps-height=\"1324\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/round-robin.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Evening-Star-Trading-300x245.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-758\" class=\"size-full wp-image-758\" src=\"https:\/\/round-robin.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Evening-Star-Trading-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1624\" height=\"1324\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pattern Recognition: Evening Star<\/p><\/div>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Trading Implications<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The high of Candle 2 identifies resistance. That level can be used for stop loss.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Caution for those holding long positions: the market has shown selling pressure at the highs. Momentum is fading.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">Reversal possible, not certain. Wait for confirmation before entering short.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\">The Evening Star does not anticipate the reversal.
